<![CDATA[Annie Froese <br />with Art and Soul Studio/Gallery - Annie's Blog]]>Tue, 28 Apr 2026 04:23:38 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[2013 - A Year for Adventure - The Baja Sessions]]>Sat, 16 Mar 2013 08:21:18 GMThttp://www.anniefroese.com/annies-blog/2013-a-year-for-adventure-the-baja-sessionsWhat a year it has been so far!  It seems 2013 will be a year of adventure for me.  It all began with a trip to the Baja Penninsula in mid-January.  After a month in the gentle climate of San Jose Del Cabo I flew back, and two weeks later journeyed to Whitehorse, Yukon, for a family wedding.  I had two firsts there:  Snowshoeing and Mushing!  (Above is a photo of me taking the team out on my own for a very short jaunt!  What fun!

It's good to share these experiences with people and for the trip to Mexico I was accompanied by great and creative friends.   Together we enjoyed the sights, sounds, food, music ..... and ART in San Jose Del Cabo.  After a month of painting, walking, taking in sights and meeting many artists, I felt determined to make my way back to this part of the world sometime in the near future..... Perhaps the same time in 2014.  

I brought along 100 1/2 sheets of watercolour paper, and I'd guess about 50 sheets were used in one way or another.  Sketches, journal pages, and a few artist books were part of the creative mass that I had personally accumulated.  Tyrrell created a few paintings in oil, four of which are now being shown in a gallery in San Jose.  At this point we are hoping to have a special show to honour the things that were begun and finished while on that trip.  We are calling it, "The Baja Sessions".

We are tentatively setting May 5th, 2013, as our day to host a show of our work and photos gathered from this month-long experience.  And fittingly, it is also Cinqo de Mayo, a great day to celebrate everything Mexican.

Tyrrell Clarke, Becky Webster, Annie Froese and Donald Vanderrick will all have works to show (or in one case, pictures of work!)
